Rules and Information about Dunvegan Show 2016
COMPETITORS All persons and animals resident in Skye are eligible to compete at the show. All livestock exhibits must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor and all other exhibits must have been genuinely grown, made or produced by the exhibitor. The Dog Show welcomes entries from visitors to the Island.
ENTRIES No entry will be accepted unless the appropriate entry fee has been paid. No entries will be accepted after the time deadline stated in this Show Programme. These vary from each section. Entry fees and number of entries per exhibitor are stated under the relevant section in this Show Programme. The same animal may be entered in any or all the classes for which it qualifies.
EXHIBITS The Committee retains the right to reject any proffered exhibit which is not presented by the correct time as stated in the relevant section in this show schedule; or in their opinion, is of such a nature as to be offensive for public exhibition.
CONTROL OF ANIMALS Animals presented for judging must be under proper control to the satisfaction of the Judges and Stewards. They have the power to disqualify any animal that in their opinion does not comply with this rule. There is no appeal from such a decision by the Judges and Stewards.
LIVESTOCK Livestock is to be removed from the Showground by 7:00 pm on the day of the Show. The Duirinish and Bracadale Agricultural Association will meet half the cost of transporting Livestock.
CATTLE All cattle exhibited must come from a herd with a negative BVD Status as accordance to Scottish government BVD eradication scheme.
JUDGES Judges have been appointed by the Committee.
The Judges’ and President’s decision is final and without right of appeal.
INJURIES AND DAMAGE Entries are only accepted on the clear understanding that whilst every care will be taken, the Committee will accept no liability whatsoever for loss or damage to Exhibits during the Show or on the journey to or from it. Similarly, entrance to the Dunvegan Showground is only permitted on the clear understanding that the Committee accepts no liability whatsoever for personal injury to spectators or damage to their property and possessions.
SALE OF GOODS At the end of the Show all exhibits in the Horticultural, Home Produce and Handicrafts Classes that have not been reclaimed by their owners will be sold at 4:30 pm for the benefit of funds of the Duirinish and Bracadale Agriculture Association. Goods not for sale may be removed between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm but not before this time frame.
PRIZES ALL prizes in the Dog Show and Children’s music competitions will be presented after judging. This is to enable these competitors to leave the Showground early if they wish.
In Cattle, Sheep, Horticulture, Handicrafts, Photography, Art Sections all Special Prizes and Trophies will be awarded in the ceremony at the end of Show Day. In all other competitions, money class prizes will be handed to successful competitors at the Secretary’s office from 4:00 pm.
SHARED PRIZES In the event of the Judges awarding two equal First or Second Prizes, the sums offered for First and Second, or as the case may be; Second and Thirds will be divided between the two equally placed exhibits and there will be no prize for the lower category
TROPHIES and SILVERWARE Trophies can be taken to Jansvans in Portree for engraving. This will be paid for by the Duirinish and Bracadale Agricultural Association if taken in before 31st December 2016. All trophies are to be signed for and returned by the 30th June 2017 to Kenny’s Garage, Dunvegan or NFU Portree. If a winner chooses to receive and take the Trophy from the Showground it is on the understanding that they will look after the trophy and return it in good condition for the next show. Any breakages or damage to Trophies will be made good by the winner who has taken responsibility for the Trophy. No trophies are to be taken off the Isle of Skye.
DOG SHOW TROPHIES and SILVERWARE We are delighted to have entries in the Dog Show from Visitors to Skye. However, to ensure the Trophies do not leave the Isle of Skye, an alternative prize will be provided to commemorate your achievement at our Show.
PHOTOGRAPHS Have your exhibit and prizes photographed by Dunvegan Show Photographers Dennis Harrild or Sam Nicolson. Please be aware photographs taken at the show may be used for promotional purposes.

Trophies and Silverware to be engraved free of charge if taken to Jansvans, Portree by 31st December 2016
All trophies are to be signed for and
